CLEARING 2022 FAQS

Do I need to write a personal statement to apply through clearing?

When applying to the ESO in Clearing, you will not need to submit a personal statement to us as your application will mainly be assessed based on your exam results. Fill in this form on this page here.

You will be invited to an interview if your grades meet the requirements where we will ask you some questions about osteopathy and why you want to study osteopathy.  To prepare for your interview, we recommend familiarising yourself with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and their standards of osteopathic practice and conduct.

Can I apply without a UCAS account?

You can submit a Clearing application to us without having a UCAS account however, if you are made an offer, you will need to create a UCAS account in order to accept it.

How do I know if I’m in Clearing?

You can check this on the UCAS Hub.  Even if you didn’t quite meet the required grades, you should check to see if your firm choice have accepted you.  The UCAS Hub will tell you if you are holding an offer or if you are in Clearing.

What grades do I need for Clearing?

The grades that we look for in Clearing can be lower than the grades we would ask for earlier in the year.  To check the requirements, please do contact us.  Even if you haven’t achieved the grades for the course, there may be other options we can recommend to you so it’s always worth getting in touch.

Can I apply before I have my final grades?

We will need to know your final results before we can make you an offer through Clearing.  However, you are more than welcome to get in touch with us and tell us your predicted grades to discuss your options with us.  You can contact the admissions team here.

Can EU, EEA, Swiss and International students apply through clearing?

Yes, we welcome applications from EU, EEA, Swiss and International students during Clearing.  You will need to ensure that you also meet the English language requirements when you apply and that you apply in enough time to be able to fulfil any visa requirements necessary for your study in the UK.

For more information about studying with us as an international student click here.

What happens after I submit my Clearing application?

The Admissions team will contact you within one working day to let you know if your application has been successful through to the interview stage.  An interview will be arranged for you (usually very quickly during Clearing) – this can be via Microsoft Teams.  Once your interview is complete, we aim to respond to you within one working day with the outcome of your application (unless we require any further information from you).

I’m already holding an offer elsewhere, can I still apply to ESO?

You can make a Clearing application to us whilst holding another offer however, you will need to be released into Clearing by your current choice in order to accept an offer from us on UCAS.

If I am accepted to ESO through Clearing, will I still have time to find accommodation?

Yes, we have contact details for local agencies and landlords to help with your search and usually find that there is ample student accommodation in the local area.   In addition, you can join our closed Facebook group managed  to help connect with other new students and find accommodation and house mates.
