My name is Andrew, I’m from the UK and I’m 21 years old

Why did you chose to study at the ESO?

I was treated as a new born at the ESO clinic so I’ve always known about it. After having a conversation with a local osteopath who studied at the ESO, I came to an open day. I was really sold by the community like atmosphere and varied curriculum. 

Did you have any specific concerns before joining the ESO?

The only concern I had was making the jump from school to university, which was never a problem. Every aspect of the course was achievable with a bit of hard work and being surrounded by like minded people made the transition easier. 

What do you enjoy most about studying at the ESO?

The thing I most enjoy is the variety we are exposed to as students. The variety of subjects that we are taught accompanied by exposure to different opinions, teaching styles and personalities give an ESO student the ability to be more than one dimensional in their approach to osteopathy and in life in general. 

What is the student life like at the ESO?

I’d say the student life is what you make of it. There are plenty of local amenities and clubs/activities that students can be involved with in and outside of the ESO. The course itself is quite demanding but, as I said before, definitely do-able with some hard work. As a result of that, mixed with the size of the uni, the lifestyle isn’t the cliché Uni life but that doesn’t mean it’s all boring and work. You just have to get the right mix. 

What are your aspirations once you’ve graduated?

I have a interest in sport and would love to work within sport in the future. I obtained a qualification in Sports Massage through the ESO and currently work with a few local football teams which is a good way of making contacts for me in the future whilst practising my skills. 

If you could sum up your time at the ESO to date, what would you say?

“So far so good” – I’ve surprised myself in some aspects. I’ve become more organised and confident especially since starting clinic.  But I’ve still got some way to go and there has been some challenging points but overall I’m really enjoying my time at the ESO.
