Student Fees
Fees for the Academic Year 2010 are £3290 for UK and EU students who have not studied at higher level before. This will rise by a small percentage each year, in line with inflation.
The school is a Partner College of The University of Greenwich (UoG). Through this partnership, eligible students (those classed as ‘Home’ or ‘EU’, as above ), can apply for a tuition fee loan to cover the cost of their studies. The money is paid directly to The University of Greenwich and the student loan application form should be completed accordingly. Please contact our Admissions Department for guidance.
You don't have to begin repaying your Student Loan until you finish your course and are earning more than £15,000 a year. Repayments are then collected through the tax system. Your repayments are determined by what you are earning and not what you owe: if your earnings are below the £15,000 threshold your payments will stop. It should be noted that the repayment thresholds may vary within the EU countries.
Loan application forms can be requested and downloaded from the Student Finance England website:
www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance
Other information about payment of fees, Maintenance loans and grants can be obtained through the University of Greenwich finance website: http://www.gre.ac.uk/students/finance
Please be aware that if you have studied at higher level before, you may not be able to pay your tuition fees with a student loan from the Government. You may also not be entitled to maintenance grants or support.
I already have a degree. Will this affect the amount I pay?
Recent government legislation adversely affects the funding of all those students with an existing academic qualification of the same level or higher than the qualification for which they are planning to study. Funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (Hefce) will no longer be available for such students. For example, any student with an existing Masters level or above qualification wishing to study for an Integrated Masters Degree would fall into this category.
This ruling holds true regardless of the country of origin of the existing qualification. The annual tuition fee for such UK or EU students will be £6,120 per annum - a fee set by the University of Greenwich and liable to annual inflationary increases. For further information visit www.hefce.ac.uk/FAQ/elq.htm
If you have a Bachelors Degree you will not fall into this category as the Integrated Masters qualification offered at the ESO is at a higher level.
I am not from an EU country. How much do International students have to pay?
Fees for international students are around £8950 per year. The tuition fee loan is not available to non EU students. International students may visit the UCAS website: www.ucas.ac.uk for useful links on how to fund the course.
Other Costs
You will also need to consider the cost of your accommodation.
Once on the course you will require various items including books, diagnostic equipment, clinic coats etc. We estimate the TOTAL cost of these items, over the 4 years, to be about £600.
Can I get a job to help fund the course?
The course runs over 36 weeks per year. Many of our students work in the school holidays or part-time in the evenings.
There are job opportunities in the town and surrounding areas and our students are often employed in the sports and leisure industries, supermarkets and in the numerous bars and restaurants in Maidstone town centre.
