Commenting on the graduation ceremony, Adrian Barnes said:

“I was delighted to attend my first graduation as Principal of the European School of Osteopathy. It was very gratifying to be able to celebrate the tremendous achievements of the graduating students; the fact that graduates from so many different countries were present gave the day a very special atmosphere.

The venue was first class, especially the amphitheatre where all the graduation photographs were taken – even the weather was kind to us.

An enormous amount of organisation and behind the scenes activity is required to make the day such a success and I congratulate and thank everyone involved.”

Light refreshments were provided after the ceremony which gave graduates, families, friends, faculty and staff time to reflect on another very successful year for the school.

The celebrations continued in the evening with graduates and their guests enjoying a Graduation Ball held in the grounds of Boxley House.

The ESO announces appointment of new principal

The European School of Osteopathy are very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Adrian Barnes, MSc (Ost) DO as the new Principal of the European School of Osteopathy.  He will be taking up the post after Easter.

Adrain Barnes - Pricipal of the ESO

Adrian graduated from the British School of Osteopathy 28 years ago since when he has been involved in osteopathic teaching and management.  He has led the Technique/Practical Osteopathic Skills team at the BSO for 18 years.  As coordinator of Post-Graduate education he was closely involved in the validation of the MSc Paediatric Osteopathy course and in developing an MSc programme for Osteopathy in the Cranial Field.  He has been a visiting lecturer at a number of osteopathic institutions both in this country and abroad.

Adrian Barnes says:

“I studied part-time for an MSc in Osteopathic Care from 1997-2001 during which time I developed an interest in the philosophy of medicine and healthcare. I am a member of the European Society for Philosophy of Medicine and Healthcare and have attended several ESPMH annual conferences.

Over the last few years my interest in osteopathic education has overtaken my interest in working in private practice and I have recently been looking for an opportunity to further my career within osteopathic education. As such, I am delighted to have been offered the post of Principal at the European School of Osteopathy.

Although I leave behind good friends and colleagues at the BSO, I am looking forward to meeting new challenges and working closely with my new colleagues at the ESO.

I am looking forward to contributing to the ongoing development of the ESO as a centre of excellence in osteopathic education, clinical practice and research, both internationally and in the UK. I am very keen also to explore the opportunities afforded by the ESO’s newly signed Partnership Agreement with the University of Greenwich.

I am sure the ESO can look forward to an exciting and successful future and I am very much looking forward to playing my part in it”.
